Advertising From the Beginning

By: Andrew Michaels

Positioning Started When You Said Hello and Shook a Hand

So your company needs a start, so let’s begin where so many of us forget, the beginning, when the custom business cards you purchased were the start of your company. Before you could get online business card printing, and before the mass number of people saw you making your millions.

Business card printing may have been done at the inception of your company, but did you know that that card would someday be looked at as the first cornerstone and contact point your customer had with you. Think of the impact your custom business cards had on the customer it was all you had aside from yourself that wowed the customer or impressed a potential customer. It was your first shot to looking competitive and professional.

When you handed your card to the potential customer or contact did you think of where you were in the food chain? Or were you focused on your piece of the pie? You may not realize it but you probably had little idea about what to do just starting out.
Using your competition

Your competition has spent time in the market already and this means a few things, they have already helped you out with. One of those is the introduction of your product or service on a mass scale to soften the thought of using your business, product or service. They have unknowingly done the hardest part which is creating awareness for your product, service or business.

With so much of the ground work already laid by your competition they will probably also help you out with another issue. Advertising, yes advertising, you see they have budgeted so much for this and they want to create a demand for the product or service, and this is always good for your company, when is free advertising not good, granted they may or may not focus the advertising on them or you specifically they are still getting the type of product or service out there.

Know Where You Want to Be

Focus your efforts to maximize your exposure to customers. Be sure to understand that you want your company to be known in the specific market you are in. So if you are a funeral service provider a cute and catchy happy jingle is not the way to go. This will show your professionalism and interest in becoming the best in the market. Your knowledge and understanding will also be a huge factor in getting you where you want to be. Be sure to maximize you time with customers and be professional this will be looked upon as a positive for future business transactions as well.
