How to Beat a Speeding penalty: How to Avoid Getting the Ticket

By: Jessica Thomson

Speed camera offence is one of the most common driving offences. If you have exceeded the speed limits and caught red handed doing so by the police officer then the police officer is sure to catch up with you and ask you to halt and park the vehicle on the side of the road. You think you are sure to get fined or get a Speeding Ticket but is there any other way to come out of the situation without being penalized?
Avoiding a penalty for speeding is possible but only if your humble behaviour impresses the police officer so as to let you go without being fined. Your behaviour, right from the time you see the lights of vehicle of the police officer are taken into consideration. One should remember that first impression is the last impression.
Once you get the signal from the police officer to pull over or park on the side the first thing one should do is slow down cautiously and safely. Turn on the signal for side parking and try to park on the road side immediately. Do not delay this because this can increase the fine.
If you think that the place is not fit for pulling over, switch on the hazard light, contact the emergency police number and convey a message to the police officer who is following you that the moment you find a safe place to park you will pull over.
After stopping, keep yourself cool, and don't step out of the car unless told to do so. If are nervous and found jittery the police office will presume that you have done something wrong and that is why you are behaving that way.
Your hands should be on the steering wheel in ten- and- two position, waiting for the officer.
You should search for the document only when asked to present them.
Always do as per the instruction of the police officer.
Be always courteous and polite while speaking with the officer.
Never speak rudely or be sure that the police officer is going to behave sternly with you.
Keep the relevant documents in a handy place. These documents should be systematically arranged in a file. Once you produce the documents in a systematic way without any fuss there are chances you can get away with just a warning.
Never act over smart. It is the police officer who has stopped you and penalize you. Never respond to a question about the reason of being pulled over. You should humbly say that he knows the traffic rules better and knows the reason for stopping him. In short let him speak out the reason for halting you.
Never accept that you are guilty of the crime but on the contrary you can mention that when the police officer stopped you never watched the speedometer.
It is only you sweet tongue and respect shown to the police officer that can change the penalty into a warning. Never behave rudely because this can hike the speeding penalties.
