Laser Hair Removal a Fast Growing Career Field

By: Art Gib

With laser hair removal becoming more affordable and therefore more popular, laser hair removal training is also growing in popularity as young people take up the trade in search of interesting new careers.

This popularity can be seen in the number of laser hair removal schools that are now available. Part of its attraction is that the trade can be picked up relatively quickly with jobs available all around the world from high-class plastic surgery clinics in upscale towns to small-town day spas.

Why Laser Hair Removal School

With increasing admiration of the human form in today's society, hair is something that is seen as getting in the way. Furthermore, men and women have been shaving body hair for centuries from exposed parts of their bodies, as a hairless form has long been considered more attractive.

One only needs to look at ancient Roman and Greek nude sculptures to see that, even then, a hairless body was considered desirable. This continues to be especially true in modern-day western societies.

Men and women who tire of shaving or plucking have longed for a permanent solution. After about 20 years of experimenting, laser hair removal became commercially available to the masses starting in the mid 1990's.

Laser hair removal has grown substantially in popularity in recent years, resulting in a growing need for laser hair removal training institutions to help meet the demand for qualified technicians.

Because it is a skilled trade that requires specific training, the demand for laser hair removal technicians is high enough to warrant competitive pay. It is becoming a popular career track, with laser hair removal schools becoming a viable alternative to those who shun college.

Lacking a college education has both pros and cons. The obvious pro is that a person is able to focus solely on the specific trade she will be practicing once entering the workforce. Graduates from a laser hair removal school can be hired by commercial institutions with the knowledge that the graduate is skilled in her trade, and hasn't spent time studying anything that might detract from her laser hair removal training.

As demand grows, the time to attend laser hair removal schools is now while demand for qualified technicians is at a peak.

What to Look for in a School

As with all things, anywhere trends are high there are sure to be those in it to get in, make a quick buck, then get out. There is no exception to this rule with laser hair removal schools. If you're not careful, you can very well end up in a school that will be more than happy to certify you in exchange for tuition, but put you out into the workforce without any actual supervised experience, leaving you unprepared to face the challenges of the real world.

Look for a school that offers:

- Hands-on experience
- Career counselors to help you find work
- Teaches you not just how to work the equipment, but the technology behind the equipment
- Stresses safety -- you are shooting lasers at people's bodies after all

You may even want to consider talking to various clinics to see if they have recommendations on which school they prefer their employees attend.
