Purchasing the Perfect Valentine's Day Gift

By: Adrian Adams

When you start dating someone that you care about, you may look forward to your first Valentine's together with a mixture of dread and anxious anticipation. This is the perfect opportunity to express your love but, depending on the stage of your relationship, you may be left unsure regarding how much should be said at this time. You might also be a loss for how extravagant your gift should be. Follow these guidelines and you will be sure to provide your loved one with a gift to remember.

If Money Is Tight:

If money is tight, it doesn't mean that you cannot give that person a great Valentine's gift to remember. In fact, since you don't have much money to spend on the occasion, it might actually force you to think of a gift that is more thoughtful and romantic.

Since the person you are dating is likely just as crazy about you as you are about her or him, you should consider putting together a special day that is just for you. Put together a picnic basket and take your loved one to a park or cook a meal just for the occasion. Be sure to add a few taper candles to the room to set the mood.

You might also consider creating a poem or a song in the other person's honor. It may be a bit corny, but that person will be sure to love it.

If You Have a Bit More to Spend:

Even if you have a bit more money to spend, there is no replacing spending time with you on Valentine's Day. If you have more money, you might want to consider purchasing tickets to a special event that you both enjoy. This could be tickets to the symphony or to a play. Or, if you both are sports fans, the perfect Valentine's Day getaway may just be going to a game.

A night at a hotel can also be quite romantic if your relationship has reached the level that you would both be comfortable with a stay.

If You Want to Give Something More than Your Time:

If you still want to give the person an actual gift that can be opened, you will need to consider the personality and interests of the person you are giving the gift to. Many women still do enjoy receiving jewelry, candy, and flowers. But, try to pay close attention to the types of flowers, candy, and jewelry that she likes. If you know that she really loves carnations, skip the roses and give her the flowers she likes best. She will appreciate the fact that you paid enough attention to know just what to get her.
