There are many supermarket chains like Tesco in the United Kingdom, which have in-store collection point for these mobiles. No cash is paid for such mobile phones when they are dropped into these collection points. But, for each phone dropped, some amount is paid for charities. The company, which recycles these mobiles, sends the usable mobiles to developing countries. Otherwise, these phones are completely stripped down to recover the usable components of these mobile phones. The supermarket chain Tesco says that they will not make any money from this operation but they are doing it as part of their corporate social responsibility to help save the environment. Therefore, it is recommended that everybody should drop their old mobile phones at such collection points as their contribution towards saving our environment.
