Resources page that helps your ranking

It is not enough to have an expensive website; you need to
get enough business leads out of your website. This will happen only when your
website gets listed on top in the search results pages of popular search engines
like Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, Alta Vista, etc. It is not that easy to get listed
on top or to get good rankings in search engines. It is possible only through
application effective search engine optimization strategies. One of the factors
that help a site’s better ranking is backlinks. A website with a large number of
backlinks will have a better ranking in search engines.

If you have a number of websites that point to your website
by having a contextual link in their website then your site’s ranking will be
high for those keywords for which you are linked. The importance of a site
increases with the increase in the number of backlinks. One of the ways of
creating backlinks is by having a relevant resources page. A resources page is
nothing but a page that provides your website users with the relevant resources
or useful links about related products or services. There are number of
advantages in having such a resources page in your website. Primarily, your
website users benefit by finding the related services through your website which
will make them come to your website again. For example a website like

www.apropos-conservatories.com
that deals with glass designs for homes and
buildings will attract visitors who are currently looking for building material
or who are currently building something or who are looking for something related
to construction of buildings. By providing them with links to websites that deal
with construction of a building or building material such as blinds, lighting
etc., will serve as a useful resource page.

Secondly, when you include a link in your resources page
you can inform the corresponding website owner and request for a link exchange
and request them to place your link in their website. Thus you can create a
relevant link directory for the ranking benefit of your website.

When you create a resources page and a link directory for
your website it certainly will increase your site’s ranking by the number of
backlinks it would have created through link exchange. Furthermore, it will also
drive traffic to your website from those websites. However, there are few things
that you need to pay attention to ensure the success of your link directory in
enhancing your website’s ranking. It is not all backlinks that are useful; your
backlinks should come from sites with a decent pagerank. If you are a PR4 site
and if you get a link from a PR2 site then it may not be that useful even if it
is a relevant or contextual link. You might be risking your existing PR by
linking to such sites. In this example, you should link to a site with PR4 or
higher. Also, the linking page should be closer to the home page and your link
should not be placed along with hundreds of other links.

If you use your resources page effectively keeping in mind
the above points you will certainly be able to get good rankings.
